American Heart Association to Hold First-Ever CycleNation Fundraising Event April 25
The American Heart Association (heart.org) is excited to announce the first-ever Lincoln CycleNation event at the Railyard on Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. This fundraising event is expected to attract over 250 guests on 50 stationary bikes from Lincoln’s business, medical, social, and media communities riding in a relay-style format. Teams of four are encouraged to sign up and take turns riding throughout the event. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to support the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
CycleNation™ is an American Heart Association/American Stroke Association health movement aimed at empowering the nation to use road bikes, stationary bikes, and community indoor cycling classes to get healthy. More than 800,000 people in the U.S. die from cardiovascular disease and strokes. The good news is that 80% of cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are largely preventable through education, simple lifestyle changes, and action.
“Cycling is known to strengthen heart muscles, lower resting pulse and reduce cholesterol,” said Erica Kiehnhoff, CycleNation director. “What’s good for your heart is good for your brain and physical activity, like cycling, which can help maintain strong brain function, processing speeds, and mental sharpness, and also help in preventing stroke and heart disease.”
The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association are devoted to saving people from heart disease and stroke. To learn more or to get involved, call 1-(800) AHA-USA1 or visit heart.org. For more information about the event or to register, visit www.cyclenation.org/Lincoln.
