Making Strides Calls for Survivors to Apply for Portrait of Hope Ambassador Program

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Lincoln is looking for survivors to apply for American Cancer Society’s (www.makingstrideswalk.org/lincolnNE) Portrait of Hope Ambassador Program. Applicants need to be willing to share their stories and be an inspiration to others who may be facing a breast cancer diagnosis of their own. Ambassadors are an integral part of the Making Strides event. They provide inspiration, hope, and support for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones.

The main responsibility of a Portrait of Hope Ambassador is to be a representative of the American Cancer Society and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, which will take place October 25. Applicants should be:

  • A breast cancer survivor who is open to sharing their story
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Willing to appear on local television and radio
  • Familiar with the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

The American Cancer Society started Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks to unite communities in the fight against this deadly disease. Today, Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer events in the nation—and they do more than just walk. They raise money to help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and provide patient services like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near treatment, and a live 24/7 cancer helpline. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Portrait of Hope Ambassador, please contact Christine Bleich at christine.bleich@cancer.org / (402) 260-3287 or learn more at www.makingstrideswalk.org/lincolnNE.
