Tell us a little about your business.
We are a full-service plumbing and drain company that recently expanded our service into water remediation.
How did you get started in the business?
I was hired by the previous owner and, turns out, I really love the field. Three years later, I found myself in a position to take the company over, and it’s been a great career for the last 34 years.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Keeping our company up and running and maintaining my sanity during the recession in 2008 and the years that followed.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
Attaining my Master Plumber license was big but just being able to stay in business and grow for 30 years is significant to me as well.
Tell us a little about your family.
This year, my wife Pam and I will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, and we just celebrated 30 years in business together. We have one daughter, Mackenzie. She is a resident anesthesiologist at UNMC and will be starting a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia in August. She has been married five years to her husband Josh, a hospitalist at UNMC, and they have given us two adorable grandsons, Henry (2) and Hudson (4 months).
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
My 49th birthday. I committed to losing some weight for good and living a healthier life—with the help of my wonderful wife, of course!
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Spend time with family and make a big meal or go fishing.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I always have music in my head.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
Creative.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
“Get Over It” by The Eagles.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
Professional sport fisherman.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?
Salvation Army. They play a crucial role in helping the community.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway.
What is your favorite movie?
The Aviator.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
The Oven—great food, service, and owner.
