Families Inspiring Families Collaborates with Angels Theater Company

Families Inspiring Families (familiesinspiringfamilies.org) have been involved with a 10-month collaboration with the Angels Theater Company on a project called Shadows and Light – Untold Stories, an inspiring ensemble theatrical performance comprised of voice, movement, and song. It shared stories of trauma and resilience drawn from the lived experiences of people in the local community. The play was performed at the Johnny Carson Theater the last week of July. Families Inspiring Families would like to thank their sponsors of the project, Angels Theatre Company, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, Nebraska Arts Council, and Region V Systems.

Families Inspiring Families is made up of parents of children and teens diagnosed with behavioral or mental health challenges. Their mission is to walk alongside other parents who find themselves caught in a whirlpool of treatment options, or lack of options, to provide support and advocacy so their child is able to live his or her best life. For example, the organization recently held a back-to-school event on July 29, which allowed the 30 involved families to purchase needed items for their children to get ready for school.
