TeamMates Partners with Girl Scouts of Nebraska to Expand Opportunities for Youth

TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln (lincolnteammates.org) and Girl Scouts of Nebraska are joining forces to expand opportunities for youth in Nebraska communities. Girl Scouts is waiving registration costs for any students involved in TeamMates, and their siblings, so TeamMates participants can join Girl Scout troops and attend activities and camps free of cost. The partnership between the two youth-serving organizations aims to expand membership and participation in Girl Scouts across the state.

“One of the goals of TeamMates is to expand possibilities for youth, so we are very excited about this opportunity for our mentees,” says Stacey Blizek, a match support specialist with Lincoln TeamMates. “Girl Scouts offers so many valuable experiences that parallel TeamMates’ ideals—including engagement with peers and the community, developing leadership skills, and exploring options for future careers.”
Included in the partnership, Girl Scouts provided Lincoln TeamMates a space for their annual summertime staff retreat day. Girl Scouts’ Hilltop House is an outdoor education facility on the outskirts of Lincoln. TeamMates staff gathered to review and create program goals, policies, and strategize for the unique challenges in the upcoming school year. The venue allowed the team of 11 to comply with social-distancing recommendations.

TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln makes a meaningful impact in the local community and beyond by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. Matches meet once a week in school during the academic year. If your business would like to partner with TeamMates to benefit local youth, visit lincolnteammates.org or call (402) 436-1990.
