SP Group Reflects on Changes in Communication Styles at Training Summit
SP Group, P.C. (spgrouppc.com) took its annual Group Training Summit virtual this year, evaluating the unusually long tax season, their processes, and how their team is weathering the changes in communication style that came with COVID. It has been a journey for SP Group, but they are confident now that they can get by in a virtual world.
Before COVID, SP Group, like many other businesses, conducted business primarily through meeting local clients in-person, but everything changed. With more than two-thirds of their team working remotely, some SP Group employees enjoyed the shorter morning “commute” and the more casual dress code that came with working from home—until the novelty wore off. They started to miss the regular contact with clients, friends, and co-workers. Like the rest of the world, they began to use video as a means to break the isolation barrier. It hasn’t been a joy ride, but SP Group is doing what has to be done to keep clients and staff safe.
