Lancaster County 4-H Develops Public Resources for Families to Use at Home

Lancaster County 4-H (Lancaster.unl.edu/4h) has developed myriad resources that families can use at home, whether they are enrolled in 4-H or not. The 4-H curricula are perfect for parents interested in teaching their children something new. From project books to science experiments to skill-building activities, these learning resources are research-based, hands-on, and fun.

Among Lancaster County 4-H resources at Lancaster.unl.edu/4Hathome, you’ll find an embryology and EGG Cam to learn about chicken embryos and their development; plant-science study resources that teach students to identify trees, flowers, weeds, and much more; and links to nationwide 4-H virtual opportunities. From the state of Nebraska 4-H site at 4h.unl.edu/virtual-home-learning, you’ll find live experiences including Living Room Learning for grades 3-5; virtual field trips for grades 7-12; self-paced opportunities including videos and online courses; and activity guides including STEM at Home, Smart Cents at Home, and a Healthy Living Activity Guide.

Lancaster County 4-H is part of Nebraska Extension and is open to all youth ages 5-18. There are no fees to join in Lancaster County, and 4-H members can choose from more than 150 different hands-on projects to learn—among them rocketry, food and nutrition, horticulture, photography, clothing, entrepreneurship, livestock, and more.
