Bats to Rats Wildlife Control & Prevention LLC (www.batstorats.com) has been a leader in wildlife and pest management in Lincoln and the surrounding areas for nine years. Daine Patton is the owner of Bats to Rats Wildlife Control and Prevention LLC.
Tell us about your business
Bats to Rats is a locally owned business that specializes in bat and rodent exclusion work and nuisance wildlife trapping. Currently, we are a team of three: Sarai Milam is our office manager, Aaron Dreeszen is our lead wildlife tech, and myself. Bats to Rats services residential and commercial buildings, schools, apartments, and churches.
How did you get started in the business?
After working for a large corporate pest company for over eight years, I decided to start my own business. Taking care of problems most people do not want to deal with or understand how to control is a great passion of mine. Being able to use my expertise to not only help my customers but also build a business my family can be proud of is very fulfilling.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Taking the leap of faith and trusting in myself.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
Getting to a point in my business where I not only support my own family, but having employees that it supports as well.
Tell us a little about your family.
I have a beautiful wife of nine and a half years named Lena. We have three awesome sons: Charles is almost 16 years old and attends East High School, Harvey is 7, and Franklin is 4.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Becoming a parent at the age of 19 definitely taught me responsibility and made me strive to give Charlie the best life I could.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Enjoy cold beverages by the pool with close friends and family, watch my boys grow up and play with each other, and Husker football!
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people don’t know?
I host a local craft beer podcast called Fridge Guys.
Who inspires you?
There are many people in my personal and professional life who have qualities that I admire.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Understand your value.
If you could choose one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
Generous.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
The Batman theme song by Neal Hefti.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Teleportation.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I am somewhat of a baby whisperer.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
Stand-up comedian.
What is your favorite TV show?
Currently, Yellowstone. Overall, Full House.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
