Roland Temme Among 8 in Nation to Receive Highest Honor from Junior Achievement USA
Junior Achievement (JA) of Lincoln (Lincoln.ja.org) Trustee and TMCO, Inc. Owner Roland Temme was celebrated in December as one of only eight people out of hundreds of thousands of volunteers nationwide to be awarded the highest honor bestowed by JA USA—the prestigious Gold Leadership Award. Roland originally was supposed to travel to New York City in March 2020 to be recognized by JA USA with the award, but COVID put those plans on hold, and he finally received his award virtually via the recent online ceremony with JA USA leadership. Roland believes deeply in JA.
“Junior Achievement will make you a better employee, a better manager, and a better parent,” Roland said. “Now, more than ever, our young people need to find hope in this country and still believe that their biggest dreams can come true. I think it is so important for JA to be part of our educational system to make this happen.”
In his 14 years of volunteering for JA Lincoln, Roland has impacted 1,076 students, and he’s hosted nearly all of them for TMCO tours and firsthand experience with the robotic machines that cut metal, then sent them each home with a personalized gift made for them by those machines. Roland became only the third Nebraskan ever to be honored with this award, joining former winners Marc LeBaron and Nick Cusick, both also part of JA Lincoln.
