Lincoln Literacy Announces Spring Online Classes for 2021 will Begin January 10
Lincoln Literacy (lincolnliteracy.org) announced an extensive spring online class schedule, with the first classes starting on Sunday, January 10. These opportunities aim to assist people of all cultures and strengthen our community by teaching them English language and literacy skills. Classes on the schedule for spring 2021 include citizenship; English conversation; computer literacy, Spanish/English, Ukrainian/English, Vietnamese/English, Arabic/English, all levels of beginner to advanced English classes, and more.
Lincoln Literacy’s efforts involve more than 300 trained volunteers; more than 20 community partners, including businesses, churches, and schools; more than 50 free English classes per week for children as young as 2 and adults as old as 78; and hundreds of individual tutoring matches. The community-wide goals are to help local businesses retain workers; help parents prepare for, apply for, and find jobs; and give kids a chance to succeed in school. Lincoln Literacy serves more than 1,000 students a year, at an annual cost of about $400 per person, all raised through fundraisers and partnerships. While the online classes are free, students must register at lincolnliteracy.org.
Lincoln Literacy is a multi-award-winning charitable provider of language and literacy services. With support from national funders, as well as local funders including the Woods Charitable Fund, the Cooper Foundation, and the Lincoln Community Foundation, they have built a free educational partnership known as English Language & Literacy Academy (ELLA).
