Catholic Social Services Partnership Grant Funds Greenhouse, Grows Food for Pantry
Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska (CSS, csshope.org) recently received a partnership grant from the University of Nebraska Extension to fund a project for CSS to build and maintain a greenhouse to grow food for those in need. This will allow CSS to grow vegetables year-round for their food pantries. Staff members Martin Garcia, Jeremy Sousek, Bill Meduna, and Bill Feltes designed and built the greenhouse, and Sousek is the main caretaker for maintaining the plants, as he has a degree from UNL’s East Campus and has experience in agriculture.
This new greenhouse ties together lives from across the state. This will allow CSS to provide fresh, healthy produce through their food pantries in Lincoln, as well as Auburn, Hastings, and Imperial. Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska is grateful to UNL for teaming with them to help bring hope in the good life!
