Lincoln Voters Elect Nicki Behmer, John Olsson to Serve on Airport Authority
Lincoln voters who turned out for the general election on May 4 elected Independent candidate Nicki Behmer and Republican John Olsson as the two new members of the Lincoln Airport Authority (lincolnairport.com). They will each serve a six-year term on the five-member board, which meets once a month and is responsible for setting policy for the Airport and overseeing the budget for Lincoln Airport and its LNK Enterprise Park industrial area. All board positions for the Airport Authority are unpaid.
Nicki is a Realtor, and John is a licensed pilot and professional engineer. Prior to the election, both said they supported the Airport Authority levying a property tax to pay for a $56 million terminal modernization project.
“I’m humbled that Lincolnites have given me the opportunity to represent them and help grow our airport and its operations,” Nicki said upon being elected. “I am excited to get to work and not only begin improving our infrastructure, but also to assist staff in expanding air service operations and build more relationships with stakeholders and our community.”
John is also looking forward to pursuing growth for the Lincoln Airport: “I’m ecstatic about being allowed the opportunity to serve this great community. As a Board member, there is great alignment of my passion for aviation and my appreciation for how infrastructure can drive opportunity and growth.”
