HopeSpoke Cautions Public on Increasing Mental Health Needs Post Pandemic
Even as Covid cases decline, vaccination rates rise, and the community opens up again, HopeSpoke (www.hopespoke.org) warns families that they may actually see an increased need for mental health services. There can be increased anxiety as people return to pre-pandemic activities.
Illness and loss in a family, disruption in schedules and routines, and economic stress all can take a toll. Children who experienced anxiety and depression even before the pandemic may have seen symptoms increase over the past year, while others who may never have sought mental health services may now be in need.
“Research tells us there is often a longer-term impact on mental health after the fact in situations like the pandemic,” says Katie McLeese Stephenson, MSW, executive director of HopeSpoke. “Extended mental health needs can be expected after the pandemic, and the best thing we can do is to reach out for help for ourselves and our loved ones.”
When families need help, HopeSpoke is here with an array of expert mental and behavioral health services for children, youth, and individuals across the lifespan. HopeSpoke provides outpatient counseling services both in-person or via telehealth, so they can best meet your needs For more information about HopeSpoke’s mental health services, visit www.hopespoke.org or call (402) 475-7666.
