Crunchy appetizers, beautiful sushi rolls, tasty noodle plates, and a wide variety of curry dishes…what more can you ask for when craving authentic Thai? Asian Taste Thai Restaurant (Asiantastethairestaurant.com) is the go-to place to curb your cravings. Just located on West A, this restaurant serves dine-in seating but is popular for its take-out options.
Walking into Asian Taste Thai for the first time, we noted the family-friendly atmosphere and savory aroma of food being prepared in the kitchen. Greeted right as you walk in by friendly service, you can’t help but notice all of the beautiful and one-of-a-kind artwork decorating the walls. The restaurant was set up perfectly to cater the small space with dining set up in a layout of open rooms, one in a hidden hallway right when you walk in, and a more private room option around the corner. There are tables that seat up to seven people and smaller tables that can seat four to five, for smaller groups.
The menu features many unique options so we took our time discussing and deciding what we were all interested in. While we were deciding, we went ahead and ordered the Thai Ice Tea and Thai Iced Coffee. The tea was sweet and creamy and slightly aromatic, our first favorite of the night! We started off the course with a Samosa appetizer and a few Sushis Rolls – chef’s choice – and let’s just give a shout out to the chef for picking some amazing rolls. They presented us with the caterpillar roll – which was a staff favorite, featuring eel and cucumber topped with avocado and eel sauce, presented in the shape and design as an actual caterpillar! Not only was the design creative and fun, but it was just as delicious, with the cucumber adding the perfect amount of crunch.
When ordering Thai, pad Thai is a necessity. As a staple noodle dish amongst Asian restaurants – known for its wide rice noodles – we had to test it out. It’s rich and vibrant flavors exceeded all of our expectations. Next up was the Pad Ka Prow with Chicken – any of their meals containing meat can either be served with chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp. The pad kra pow is a spicy Thai basil chicken stir-fry – be warned that it is spicy! Once you get past the spice, however, the flavor of the chicken is unlike any other, nice and juicy.
We highly recommend that everyone tries the curry at least once. We ordered the Panang Curry, Yellow Curry, and the Tom Kha, which is a traditional Thai coconut soup. All three were very strong contenders for a first place favorite, with the flavorful squash and red chili in the panang, sweet turmeric yellow curry, and creamy with a hint of that seafood flavor in the tom kha. Pretty sure we were all speechless at all three. The last item we ordered was the Yum Nam-Tok with rice. This was a nice finisher to the course as it was a lighter dish being a salad, and incorporated the freshness of the sweet basil, mint, and lemongrass, with the barbecued pork, creating the perfect balance of flavor.
Everything from service, to presentation, to taste, and environment was Strictly Business approved, and yes, we will be returning to try out the rest of their menu!
