Nominations Open for Celebrate Business Awards
The achievements and accomplishments of our local businesses help make our community a desired place to live, work, and play. As a staunch advocate for the success of local business, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize those businesses who continue to make the greatest impact in our community and go above and beyond when it comes to their contributions to Lincoln.
Our 26th Annual Celebrate Business Awards event takes place on December 7 and will showcase this year’s most visionary and community-driven businesses and individuals. While challenges remain for the rest of 2021 and beyond, I truly commend how Lincoln businesses have stepped up to the plate and made our community a better place despite unprecedented challenges and circumstances. More work remains, but one thing is for sure—Lincoln businesses are resilient and improve our community through their impactful actions and practices.
This year, we will honor businesses and individuals that excel in several different areas and contribute to Lincoln’s thriving and innovative business climate. From our Cornerstone Award that recognizes unparalleled community leadership to the Small Business of the Year Award honoring businesses that best exemplify the spirit of free enterprise in Lincoln, all of our awards represent what makes Lincoln special – the people. Their contributions and actions touch our lives in ways that we often take for granted, which is why we want to properly congratulate and thank them for all they do.
Our 2020 winners included two Small Business of the Year winners in Turbine Flats and The Bay. Both have made an incredible mark on our community by providing opportunities for people of all ages to succeed and grow through education, entrepreneurship, or innovation. The coming years will see both Turbine Flats and The Bay continue to flourish and expand in Lincoln.
Other 2020 business winners such as inExhaust, Monolith, BasicBlock, Lincoln Sports Foundation, Union Bank & Trust, and Duncan Aviation have committed to making Lincoln business better by increasing tourism, focusing on environmental improvements in business, and providing unique services through the COVID-19 pandemic. Their abilities to move forward with their work and strive for ingenious and effective solutions to ever changing circumstances is truly admirable and worthy of adulation.
We also take time to recognize individuals for their contributions to Lincoln. Sändra Washington was recognized as the Roger T. Larson Community Builder Award winner in 2020 while others such as JoAnn Martin, Mayor Chris Beutler, Scott Young, and Rich Herink were winners of the Larson and Burnham Yates Citizenship Awards in previous years.
The 2020 winners truly represented the best of business in Lincoln, and I look forward to applauding our 2021 recipients in December as we celebrate the numerous success stories of our community, especially during the continued challenges faced by everyone in our community and others as well.
