Ribbon Cutting Held to Welcome Back Raising Cane’s Into Downtown Lincoln
Raising Cane’s (www.raisingcanes.com) Chicken Fingers in downtown Lincoln reopened on March 31 after being closed for a year due to renovations. In response to the pandemic, Raising Cane’s and the Lincoln Chamber celebrated with a virtual ribbon cutting ceremony on April 20, and later celebrated in person on June 3. The virtual ceremony was staff and Chamber members only, and required masks as well as social distancing. The in-person celebration was open to the general public, and was joined by staff and chamber members.
Renovations for remodel began in March 2020 shortly after Raising Cane’s closed their doors due to the pandemic. Greg Krumsick, area director, describes the remodel as a refreshed look while still preserving the distinct features of the building. Some of the remodel includes resurfaced original concrete floors, exposed floor ceiling, original brick walls, a hand-painted Cane’s logo, as well as additional outdoor seating.
Located at 201 N 14th St., this location of Raising Cane’s has been known to be popular with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln students, as well as specific clubs and athletic teams in the area. Raising Cane’s reopened with dine-in options and adhered to CDC recommendations by having tables placed six feet apart with a maximum capacity of six people per table and operated at only 50% capacity. Mask regulations were enforced at the time, and staff continues to thoroughly sanitize and clean everything.
