Vision Maker Media Honors Indigenous Peoples’ Day with Film Program
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a declaration of the rights of Indigenous Peoples and thus serves as and celebrates an International Day of Solidarity among Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. To recognize and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday, October 11, Vision Maker Media (visionmakermedia.org) is holding a week-long online film program, October 6-13, as part of their 45th anniversary and theme of commUNITY. This year’s film streaming features Return to Rainy Mountain and Words From a Bear. Both films tell the compelling story of N. Scott Momaday, Kiowa essayist, novelist, writer, and 1969 Pulitzer Prize winner. These two films weave together the intricacies of Kiowa art, family, personal memoir, poetic justice, and democracy through Native sovereignty. This event is free and open to the public, however registration is required, which can be done by visiting visionmakermedia.org.
