Tru-Built Construction Named Gold Winner in Qualified Remodeler Magazine
Qualified Remodeler magazine recently honored Tru-Built Construction (tru-built.net) with the Gold Award in the Light Commercial category of the 2021 Master Design Awards. They were recognized for their remodeling work on The Post Lofts, located downtown at 14th and P St. The project cost $2.6 million and spanned 25,000 square feet.
The project objectives included stabilizing three historic buildings with structural steel reinforcement and roofing; prepping the main floors for commercial retail; constructing six studio apartments on the second levels and a penthouse apartment on the third level; and building roof decks with three natural gas fire pits and two patio grills, all while maintaining the historical characteristics.
During the interior demolition process, Tru-Built discovered multiple unique advertisement murals that were in exceptional condition. They decided to incorporate the advertisements into the floor plan of the apartments. A clear coat finish was applied to the artwork for protection and longevity. The third floor has three bedrooms and bathrooms and an indoor natural gas fireplace.
