Meet Chad Schlisner, operations manager at Underfoot Flooring Solutions.

Tell us a little about your business. – We are a family run flooring store, which is a blessing when you let it be. We provide the sale and installation of flooring materials including tile, vinyl, linoleum, laminate, engineered hardwood, LVP, LVT, carpeting, and stone.

How did you get started in the business? – I apprenticed as a flooring installer through my father.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Handling claims for a flooring adhesive company.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Helping create and develop a high moisture adhesive system for commercial flooring.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have five wonderful children and a beautiful wife, Tina. We followed our children back to Lincoln, who all wanted to come home for college.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Moving to Dalton, GA in 2008 to work in manufacturing and learning more about flooring products, rather than just installing.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Fishing or anything with my wife.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I sang in a southern gospel quartet.

Who inspires you? – My children.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Don’t let your emotions control your actions.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Christian.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To fly.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Singing.

Which talent would you most like to have? – To keep my mouth shut.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – High school football coach.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Pathfinders, they work with youth and teach them about nature and God and is incredibly rewarding.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Hobbit.

What is your favorite movie? – Back to the Future.

What is your favorite TV show? – M*A*S*H*.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – El Toros.
