Sponsored by School Community Intervention and Prevention (SCIP, scipnebraska.com), Lincoln Public Schools, and Region V Systems,“Digital Citizenship: Cyberbullying, Sexting and Internet Safety” will be the topic of the upcoming Promoting Healthy Behaviors Community Awareness series presentation. The presentation will be held in the cafeteria at Lincoln East High School, 1000 S. 70th St., beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will feature Karen Haase, an attorney with KSB School Law. Ms. Haase is an expert in Nebraska law on social media/online issues and will discuss cyberbullying, sexting, and internet safety.
Summaries of real-life cases and criminal consequences attached to the inappropriate use of social media will also be addressed. SCIP is a program designed to bring together families, school, and the community to support student behavioral and emotional health. SCIP’s mission is to provide an effective prevention and early intervention process for youth with behavioral health concerns so they may achieve healthy, productive lives. SCIP works with schools throughout Nebraska by providing tools and resources to address behavioral health issues that impact children, adolescents, and their families.
