Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (mtko.org) is hosting the 28th annual Huskers Helping the Homeless event the weekend of September 20, and they need more volunteers on their team! This event raises awareness and critical funding for the organization’s hunger relief and homeless-prevention services, which are offered 365 days a year.

Volunteers are needed to accept monetary donations downtown on Friday, September 20, before Nebraska’s football game against the Fighting Illini, as well as at stores throughout Lincoln from Thursday, September 19 to Saturday, September 21. There are many half-hour shifts available throughout the three-day event at a variety of locations. Groups can also volunteer at their pre-game or tailgate celebrations. Volunteers are provided donation buckets, signs, t-shirts and online donation and Venmo codes.

The mission of Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is to relieve hunger, overcome homelessness, address addiction and provide outreach and advocacy.
