Vision Maker Media (visionmakermedia.org) is hosting this year’s hybrid Producers Summit themed “Spark & Ignite a Vision,” Thursday, August 22, at the Choctaw Cultural Center in Calera, OK as well as virtually through the Whova app. This all-day hybrid event is free and open to the public. This event is set to “Spark” and “Ignite” stories from Native communities. Attendees will be introduced to various aspects of film production, and VMM will share some current projects and initiatives to light your creative fire.

  • Session Two – Legacy of the Land
    • Films that explore Indigenous knowledge and how traditional practices are driving climate change studies.
  • Session Three – Indigenous Legal History Initiative
    • University of Nebraska Indigenous Law and Race History talk about the laws that affected Native people for new filmmaking.
  • Session Four – Firelight Media
    • Firelight Media and VMM Fellows discuss community impact film projects.
  • Session Five – CSF: The Mentor/Mentee Relationship
    • Hear from a CSF mentee and mentor about their experience.
