In 2007, Randy Nelson was hired by a group of administrators in the ESU #6 area (Milford) to design and start a Career Academy Program for high school juniors and seniors. This program was funded through a Carl Perkins Federal Grant and a partnership between 16 K-12 schools and Southeast Community College. In 2011, SCC took over the program which now serves over 300 students in 32 schools in the SCC service area. It is the only multi-school career academy of its kind in the state of Nebraska. Randy serves as the Director of the Program, which includes all high school students taking college level or dual-credit classes from SCC.
