Meet Michelle Williams, the General Manager at Sartor Hamann Jewelers (sartorhamann.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – I am so proud to work for Sartor Hamann Jewelers. We are a family owned jewelry store that has been in business for 119 years, and we take great pride in serving our clients. Not only do we carry beautiful jewelry, but we educate our clients so that they can see with their own eyes what makes us the best. We are a full service company that can do anything from simple repair work on a client’s special piece, to custom designing beautiful jewelry from the ground up. We also do appraisals, and can even help clients get set up on insurance for their special pieces. I have been in the industry for 31 years, but have been with Sartor Hamann for 21 of those years, and am proud to manage our Southpointe location.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Working through Covid was, at least in the beginning, a pretty big challenge. It was a little unsettling to not know how our business would do in such unforeseen times. Not only was I worried about all of my teammates’ health, but also their ability to keep working in order to support their own families. The Hamann family was incredibly good to all of us through those uncertain times, and it really made me realize how blessed I am to be working for them.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married for 29 years to the love of my life. We have a blended family together and have six kids between us, along with seven grandchildren whom we adore!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I am a person that always seems to be on the go, so when I get a day off, where I can actually stay at home and spend time with my husband, my kids, my grandkids or my two adorable dachshunds……that is the best!! I also love to garden and sing with the Lincolnaire Chorus!!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I guess it would be that I am musical. I majored in voice in college and when I lived in New York for a few years, I even did a musical. That was a blast!! Living in New York was a great experience for me, but I learned quickly that my heart and soul missed my roots in Nebraska. I moved back to be closer to family, and without planning for it, stumbled into the jewelry business which I became passionate for, almost immediately. 30+ years later…..I can honestly say….I love what I do!!

Who inspires you? – Without a doubt…..my family! Especially my parents. They are both gone now, but the love they shared for 54 years, and the commitment they had to one another, their children, their community and above all else, to God, has helped direct my life in more ways than I can count. I was very blessed to be raised in the family I was.

What is your favorite movie? – I am a HUGE Ryan Reynolds fan, so anything with him in it. But my favorite movie would have to be The Proposal. I love romantic comedies!

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Lincoln has so many great local restaurants that it would be hard to pick just one, but I would have to say MoMo’s is at the top for me.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Honestly, for me, it wouldn’t be a famous person. I would choose to have dinner with my parents and grandparents. I was pretty young when my grandparents passed, so I would love to ask them questions about our heritage, etc. and I would give anything to hug my parents again!
