The team here at Strictly Business was able to dine in with Director of Brand Development, Ryan Onstad, at the Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers (freddys.com) located at 56th and O St.! After a brief introduction and an update regarding his newborn son, Kylo, we were able order and sit down at in their comfortable dining area.

The food came out quickly, staying true to their brand category “fast casual.” Our team immediately dove into the food starting with the Grilled Cheese Steak Burger, signature Chili Cheese Fries and their popular Chicken Tenders; all of which were made-to-order and seasoned with their branded seasonings. Freddy’s seasonings and fry sauces (regular and spicy) are available at Hy-Vee grocery stores. As we ate our meal Ryan shared where the company hopes to take Freddy’s as a whole.

At Freddy’s they continue to keep it simple. They are starting to implement new equipment which cuts cook time in half, both for their convenience and yours, while still keeping that amazing Freddy’s quality.

Lincoln warmly welcomed Freddy’s, breaking several sales records at the first location. The company has opened four locations over the past eight years to serve Lincoln and seven additional stores across Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Ryan reports all of the stores are performing very well. Freddy’s development in our area is testament to the fact it is one of top 10 fastest growing franchises according to Forbes.

As we moved on to the desserts we ordered—a Pumpkin Pie Shake, Signature Turtle, Dirt ‘N’ Worms Sundae and Caramel Apple Pie Concrete all of which have a base of custard, a creamier, thicker and richer frozen desert than traditional ice cream—Ryan talked about how the company wants its restaurants to be a destination for people of all ages to hang out.

“After COVID, dine-in experience was largely replaced by drive-thru operations. Most restaurant services are done through the drive-thru with only 30 percent of orders being dine-in,” says Ryan “We want our stores to have a welcoming, fun atmosphere where people can come and hang out like we all did when we were kids.”

To achieve this goal and to support families and the community, Freddy’s gives back with “kids eat free” every Tuesday. If your child is 12 or younger, every Tuesday night, from 4pm to 8pm, they can get a free kid’s meal with purchase of adult meal. Additionally, first responders, nurses and teachers get 25 percent off their orders and veterans get 10 percent off their orders every day.

Freddy’s also offers catering services for corporate and personal events and celebrations. This new offering is only six months old, but it’s already taking off. Ryan mentioned that Freddy’s recently catered a wedding featuring their signature frozen custard treats. A unique and fun offering for a sweet occasion!

Ryan knows that synergy is so important when running a business; you have to build a relationship between the brand and the consumer, which is why the company believes in giving back to its community. In the past six months, Freddy’s has hosted 30 different fundraisers, with many more planned, all to give back to worthy organizations in the community.

We highly recommend Freddy’s for delivering a consistently great value dining experience and for its commitment and investment in supporting our local community.
