Farris Engineering, Inc. (farris- usa.com) is an employee-owned small business founded in 1967, when Ray Farris started the company with one other employee in his home in Omaha. While technology and systems have evolved significantly since then, their core values remain unchanged: a steadfast commitment to trust, honesty and reliability.
Their municipal division is led by Municipal Utility Sector Leader David Hunter, who brings over 30 years of experience in municipal utility operations, construction and management. David’s extensive background spans nuclear power plant operations, AC/DC power generation, construction, satellite earth station operations, microwave operations and municipal electrical power transmission, as well as water and wastewater treatment.
In addition to his technical expertise, David excels at navigating regulatory environments. His experience working with federal and state agencies—including the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NeDEQ), Health and Human Services (HHS), National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)—demonstrates his ability to manage compliance and regulatory requirements effectively. His constructive engagement with these entities underscores his commitment to safety, efficiency and excellence.
