Standing where Scoops used to be, The Waffle Cone opened its doors at the beginning of the year. Sandwiched between 3 Daughters Boutique and Forever Faithful Boutique, The Waffle Cone brings bright colors and flavorful ice cream to North 8th Street.
Cinthya Espinosa and her husband decided to start a business to celebrate their love of ice cream.
“My husband is a chef,” Espinosa said. “My husband really wanted to start a business, and I love ice cream.”
And thus The Waffle Cone concept was born.
“We have ice cream from Ashby’s,” Espinosa said. “It is premium ice cream and we have 24 flavors in the display, but we change flavors once a month.”
The Waffle Cone doesn’t make its ice cream in-house, but instead outsources their cold sweets from Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream. Ashby’s Sterling is famous for their creamy and award-winning ice cream.
The Waffle Cone does change their unique flavors monthly, but keeps the classics like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry stocked at all times.
Bring home a pint or a quart of ice cream home today. Only $7 for a pint and $10 for a quart of the premium frozen dessert.
Look for the Ice Cream Nachos: three scoops of ice cream of your choice, waffle cone chips, topped with any toppings they offer. The perfect item to order when the options are overwhelming.
“Our [ice cream] nachos are pretty popular,” Espinosa said. “You can always combine the flavors, the one I really like is banana combined with strawberry, it’s also a popular flavor.”
The Waffle Cone sells Topper Popper Popcorn, a locally owned popcorn company on 66th and Holdrege. Grab an ice cream shake or root beer float for the road when an ice cream cone is too messy.
For the Dole Whip fanatics, The Waffle Cone offers Dole Whip that is vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free.
During the winter, The Waffle Cone plans on selling other sweet treats in hopes of expanding their menu in the slower months.
“We just want to invite customers to come and check [The Waffle Cone] out,” Espinosa said.
The Waffle Cone is open Sunday through Friday from 12 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
