The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is building on the momentum of last summer’s Intercity Visit to Boise, Idaho, with an exciting new initiative: the 2025 City Swap with Topeka. This two-part exchange is set for June 17–18, when Lincoln business and community leaders travel to Topeka, and July 30–31, when Topeka returns the visit to Lincoln. The goal? To foster regional collaboration and idea sharing to strengthen both communities.
The 2024 Intercity Visit to Boise sparked bold conversations and new ideas, while building professional relationships that transcend state lines. The upcoming City Swap aims to build on that success by offering attendees a firsthand look at the growth, success and innovation of each community. We are thrilled to be partnering with the Greater Topeka Partnership once again, and their agenda for our trip to their community offers an impressive look at their incredible momentum and forward-thinking approach to economic growth. The agenda includes:
- A welcome reception, followed by the opportunity to explore downtown Topeka
- A special session with the Topeka Area Sports Commission on how youth sports are driving growth
- A presentation from GO Topeka about their innovative approach to economic development
- An exploration of Topeka’s downtown placemaking projects, as well as their arts and innovation districts
- A firsthand look at how Topeka is reimagining spaces, such as the West Ridge Mall’s redevelopment into a mixed-use campus
- A stop at the Topeka Zoo and Gage Park, with a panel discussion on how those amenities support both tourism and the quality of life for locals
- Valuable networking opportunities with business and community leaders from both Lincoln and Topeka
