Visitors from all over Nebraska migrated to the capital city to show support for their teams and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Lincoln as they strolled the downtown streets.

Jeff Maul, executive director at the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau, spoke highly of the state tournaments and all the people who travel to the city of Lincoln for the events.
“It means a ton to our community. These are visitors coming from across the state that plan small vacations to Lincoln to cheer on their team and to shop, eat and play as well.”

Over 153,000 people attended the boys’ and girls’ state basketball tournament this year.

Recent and ongoing developments spotlight the reoccurring vitality of downtown Lincoln:

Construction:  Last month resulted in a large amount of building improvements and alterations, leading to an investment of $711,000 in downtown construction projects. This includes $68,000 worth of retail enhancements, $620,000 worth of residential enhancements and $23,000 worth of office improvements.

Downtown Lincoln’s newest law firm, Miller Grell Law Group PC, LLO, has been settling into their second-floor office just above Brewsky’s in the Haymarket for the past month.  Owners Chris Miller and Mark Grell are both graduates of the University of Nebraska College of Law and their litigation firm will specialize in workers’ compensation, insurance disputes, personal injury, products liability and business litigation. Miller and Grell have more than 17 years of combined experience in these areas.

When asked what they hope their new firm will accomplish in the coming years, both agreed that providing exceptional service to their clients was their main priority.

Nothing Else Footwear Brings Big City Style Downtown

They’ve spent four months in the heart of the capital city, and so far, Nothing Else Footwear is enjoying their new spot downtown nestled right next to the Rococo Theatre on the corner of 13th and P Streets.

Nothing Else offers a variety of casual and dress shoes for women from such brands like Spring Step, Restricted and Sebago, but also carry a small selection of men’s shoes as well. In addition, customers can find a diverse assortment of handbags at the store too.

The shoe store got its roots in Brooklyn under Sage & Nino Bakr, Inc., but didn’t come about as Nothing Else Footwear until they arrived here in Lincoln last year on November 1st. For the store’s grand opening, the first one hundred customers were given 20% off shoes for life.

Nothing Else is located at 134 N. 13th Street. They are open Monday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
