Walker Tire is celebrating our 62nd anniversary in April, and this year also marks the 10th anniversary of Quick Nick’s Snappy Lube. The combination of both businesses has allowed us to grow and offer a wealth of trustworthy products and services to many customers in the Lincoln area. The cover showcases how we do business as well as the direction of the company moving into the future, as customer service and satisfaction by providing the highest quality products and services is our #1 priority.
Walker Tire has handled the safest tires in the world since we took on the Michelin tire in 1958, and we brought this brand and type of tire to Nebraska before any other competitors in the world were even making a radial tire. As we have grown over the years, so has our experience by carrying some of the best brands available, including Nokian Tyre. Our experience in tires has kept us at front of the industry for 62 years. This experience helped us to recognize an opportunity to expand our business, so we combined our tire knowledge with a service center to accommodate all aspects of vehicle maintenance. The Quick Nick’s concept is simple, with the snappy lube oil change centers supplementing our tire stores to form a full-service operation. This concept allows us to accommodate all customers by servicing individual, privately owned vehicles all the way up to company-owned fleets. Our concept also offers a nod to 50’s and 60’s culture, which centered around doing business the old-fashioned, right way with a focus on service, both customer and automotive. During this time period, everyone went to the community gas station to get anything they needed for their vehicle, including services and repairs. Shortly thereafter, specialized quick lubes and no-service gas stations appeared around the country, but were very limited in the services they offered. Walker Tire and Quick Nick’s adopted the model of the community gas station because we understand the significance of being able to offer our customers anything they want or need all in one place.
Our businesses have always been family owned. Nick Vuko Sr., President of Walker Tire Company, is a civil engineer and oversees the tire division of Walker Tire. His son, Nick Jr., who serves as the General Manager of Walker Tire and Quick Nick’s, is a mechanical engineer that was brought in for the technical side of the business, and his expertise has fit perfectly in merging Quick Nick’s with Walker Tire. With the combination of education and individual strengths, we have effectively formed an engineering center. As a team, Walker Tire and Quick Nick’s offer a complete array of automotive services, and of course, high-quality tires. We are proud to have served our community in Lincoln for 62 years, and will continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of our businesses.
