12th Annual One Day Without Shoes Sponsored by Cornhusker Bank Benefits PCM

People’s City Mission (PCM, www.pcmlincoln.org) is inviting the community to donate their new or used shoes for the 12th Annual One Day Without Shoes, sponsored by Cornhusker Bank, from April 4 – 16. A shoe giveaway will be held on April 29 at PCM’s Help Center.

Since 2011, Cornhusker Bank and PCM have partnered to help raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a person’s life by hosting a One Day Without Shoes event annually. The public has been encouraged to bring new or used shoes, or cash donations to help put good shoes on the feet of Lincoln’s less fortunate. In the previous 11 years of hosting this event, Cornhusker Bank’s seven locations and numerous business partners have collected over 202,000 pairs of shoes and monetary donations totaling over $96,000!

During the event on April 29, Cornhusker Bank will present a check to PCM, followed by a press conference. Then PCM guests will be able to choose shoes for themselves and their families. The remainder of the shoes collected will be distributed over the next several days to needy families who are served at the Help Center. People’s City Mission was started in 1907 by local churches, offering food and shelter for transient and impoverished men, women, and children. To learn more about the organization, contact PCM at info@pcmlincoln.org / (402) 475-1303 or visit www.pcmlincoln.org.
