As Q4 begins and the year draws to a close, Angels Among Us (myangelsamongus.org) wants to share why this moment matters so much for the families we serve. Approximately every four days, a Nebraska family will hear, “Your child has cancer,” and the fallout extends far beyond the hospital room. Within weeks, PTO and vacation days run out. One parent is often forced to leave a job or scale back significantly. This disruption to “normal life” creates an immediate financial crisis on top of an unimaginable emotional one.
That’s where Angels Among Us comes in. Since 2006, they’ve provided financial and emotional support to pediatric cancer families living in or being treated in Nebraska. Within days of receiving and approving an application, Angels Among Us begins providing direct monthly assistance towards housing, utilities, car payments and other critical bills — paid directly to creditors so donor dollars go exactly where they’re needed.
As the cost of living has climbed, so has their response. Just two years ago, the 2024 assistance levels were $550 and $850 a month. As of July 2026, they raised the monthly assistance levels to $700 and $1,400, so families can better keep pace with the real financial pressures of fighting this disease.
