Branched Oak Observatory to Host NE SciFest Star Party April 6

In celebration of NE SciFest, Branched Oak Observatory (branchedoakobservatory.com), located just outside of Lincoln, will be hosting a star party for all lovers of space, science, and astronomy on Saturday, April 6. The observatory will be open between 2 and 4 p.m. for a free and safe viewing of our closest star, the Sun, with very special telescopes. See such solar phenomena as granulation, sun-spots, prominences, flares, and filaments! These results depend on the solar activity at the time. That same evening, between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight, explore the wonders of the night sky through a variety of telescopes. See galaxies, nebulae, star-clusters, and the red planet Mars. The rain-date for this kid-friendly event is April 27.
