CommuteAir (commuteair.com), which operates more than 50 aircraft under the United Express (united.com) brand, established a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility (MRO) at its Lincoln Airport (LNK) maintenance hangar in June 2024. This milestone development marked a significant stride in the airline’s growth trajectory and commitment to fostering economic prosperity in the Lincoln community.

To support the growth and welcome individuals interested in aircraft maintenance, CommuteAir is offering its innovative 30-month aircraft maintenance technician apprenticeship program. Candidates without FAA certifications can “earn while you learn,” with the company providing tools and covering the entire cost of the training program, while earning attractive wages. Apprentices will enjoy full-time employment status with CommuteAir, inclusive of benefits such as free air travel on United Airlines’ global network for employees, spouses and eligible family members, medical and dental coverage, life and short-term disability insurance, a 401k match and more. In addition, positions are available for already-licensed aircraft technicians, sheet metal technicians and parts warehouse clerks.

“The expansion of our operations in Lincoln is a testament to the unwavering support we have received from this community since we first opened our maintenance hangar in August 2021,” said Rick Hoefling, CommuteAir President & CEO. “We look forward to making Lincoln a hub of possibilities for our extended CommuteAir family.”
