ComPro Insurance Responds to American Rescue Plan Act, Effective April 1
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) went into effect on April 1, 2021, so ComPro Insurance (comproins.com) is working closely with individuals/families and employers whose health plans are being affected. For individual/family health plans, ARPA provides the opportunity for people with higher incomes to enroll in a health insurance plan through healthcare.gov and receive a Premium Tax Credit subsidy that reduces the monthly premium. Those who have not qualified in the past will likely qualify now. Self-employed individuals and those who work for small businesses that do not offer group health insurance should contact ComPro to find out what their savings could be.
For employer-sponsored health plans, ARPA provides a 100% subsidy of COBRA premiums. The subsidy covers the full cost of COBRA and State Continuation from April 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021. An employee is eligible for the subsidy if they were involuntarily terminated or had an involuntary reduction in work hours. Employers are responsible for notifying affected employees of the availability of the COBRA subsidy.
