Domesti-PUPS Hosts Educational Seminar for Businesses Encountering Service Dog Users

recently hosted an educational seminar for businesses who may encounter service dog users, titled Tighten the Leash on Fake Service Dogs. The event took place on May 1 at Firespring. Businesses who attended learned about actionable insights for dealing with legitimate and fake service dogs. The unfortunate but real fact is that poorly behaved, poorly trained, and/or aggressive animals do not belong in places of public accommodation. These kinds of dogs can pose a danger to other people and service animals, potentially causing property damage and/or interfering with business operations. The seminar covered the following topics: the how and whys of service dogs; differences between service dogs and emotional support animals; legalities around questioning service dog handlers; service dog laws and etiquette; appropriate times for businesses to refuse a service dog.
