Engine House Café (enginehousecafe.com) is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary! A Lincoln mainstay located in Historic Havelock, Engine House Café held a ribbon cutting event with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce on July 16th in honor of this significant milestone.
The Engine House Café was Havelock’s original Fire Station. Engine House #4, built in 1900, was then home to a horse drawn fire team. In the 1970’s, the Fire Station moved to its new home on Fremont and Touzalin Streets.
Plenty of great history still remains with the building today. The wood ceiling that accents the building is the original from 1900, and the two large wooden beams at the entrance are what’s left of the Bell Tower. All of the memorabilia decorating the walls of Engine House Café came from retired and active firemen, their families, and friends.
The Engine House was renovated in early 1995 to become Engine House Café, which opened in June of 1995. While Engine House Café is locally famous for its delicious breakfast fare served bright and early beginning at 6 a.m. seven days a week, the eatery also offers a fantastic lunch menu served until 2 p.m. every day.
