First National Bank (www.fnbo.com) has announced the winners of its 2019 Community First Awards, which recognize and reward nonprofit organizations who are working to strengthen communities across the bank’s service area.

The first place winner is The Lane Thomas Foundation, located in Omaha. They will use the $25,000 donation to create an educational and promotional campaign to encourage organ donation, so no child dies while waiting for an organ transplant. The second place winner is the Nebraska Humane Society, located in Omaha. They will use the $10,000 donation to purchase equipment needed for Animal Control Officers to rescue injured and stranded animals. The third place winner is Pathways Shelter for the Homeless, located in Yankton, SD. They will use the $5,000 donation to remodel shelter rooms.

First National Bank kicked off the 2019 Community First Awards on August 1, inviting nonprofit organizations to nominate their community project during a two-week period. Qualifying nominations were presented to bank employees, who voted to select 20 finalists. The public was then invited to vote between September 23 and 27 for the nonprofit organization whose community project they believe will make a significant contribution to the growth and strength of their community. Overall, a total of 150 nominations were received from nonprofit organizations, more than 2,100 employee votes were received and more than 25,500 public votes were cast.

At First National Bank, they offer personalized communication, service, and attention to help customers meet their banking needs. They are perceived as a small community bank with five locations in Lincoln, and they are proud of their employee involvement in the community. To learn more, visit www.fnbo.com.
