Gary Michael’s Clothiers (garymichaelsclothiers.com) of Lincoln has been named a 2016 Nebraska Retail Champion by the Nebraska Retail Federation. This award goes to a retailer that is an active advocate for the retail industry and emphasizes the dramatic impact brick and mortar retailers have on the local community.
Owner Gary Novotny has been in the Men’s clothing industry in Nebraska for over 40 years. His Lincoln store is noted as “Nebraska’s Premier Store For Men” featuring clothing from the US, Canada, Italy, and offering custom made-to-measure tailored clothing. Gary was recently selected to participate in retail import-export collaboration with the Italian Government through which Gary met with Italian manufactures in Milan not currently marketing in the United States. In the late 1990’s Novotny organized “Nebraska’s Independent Men’s Clothing Association” through which other Nebraska clothing retailers can meet to discuss new lines, vendor options, and share progressive ideas on marketing.
As an active member of Nebraska Retail Federation, Gary has given articulate testimony on behalf of Nebraska’s retailers at Legislative hearings. He is a past recipient of the Nebraska Retail Federation Marketer of the Year award. He advocates for retail in countless other ways: Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Independent Business Association, Sertoman of the year, Nebraska Independent College Foundation, Friends of Love Library, JDRF, Knights of Columbus, St Peter’s Catholic Church, and many more.
