7th Annual Soup/Chili Cook-Off for Cancer Raises Record-High $3,200

HOME Real Estate (www.homerealestate.com) and Woods Bros Realty (www.woodsbros.com) agents and staff raised a record $3,200 during the 7th annual Soup or Chili Cook-off for Cancer on Wednesday, March 2 in Lincoln.

The Chili Cook-Off raised money for the American Cancer Society through $1 voting beans. Voters were made up of HOME and Woods Bros agents and staff, along with staff from Nebraska Land Title and Abstract (NLTA), HomeServices Lending, HomeServices of Nebraska Insurance and Larabee School of Real Estate. The group has raised more than $16,000 at these events to date, but this year was the most money raised in a single event to date.

This year the Celebrity Judge Award went to Gina, Fran & The Steves from the HOME Real Estate Pioneer Greens office for their “Pozole.” Celebrity judges were Mayor Chris Beutler, Channel 8 Sports Anchor Peter Terpstra, Morning Show Host JP from New Country 96.9, and Hillcrest Country Club Executive Chef Jeramy Behn.

The People’s Choice Award (with the most beans) went to Ian Gilgallon of the HOME North office for his Boot Camp Chili, with Kimberly Rempel of the HOME Pine Lake office coming in a close second, and Linda & Bill Kuhlmann of the Woods Bros Realty Wilderness Hills office coming in third place..

The 2016 participants from HOME Real Estate were: Connie Boender, Cotner office; Ian Gilgallon, North office; Kimberly Rempel, Pine Lake office; and Gina, Fran and the Steves of Pioneer Greens.  The Woods Bros participants were: The Tidball Team, Country Club Plaza office; Kim Wiedenbeck, Lincolnshire Square office; Linda & Bill Kuhlman, WildernessHills office. Gailynn Alberts represented the Support Services office.
