LHRMA to Host April Program and Workshop on Baby Boomer Retirement

The Lincoln Human Resource Management Association (LHRMA; lincolnhr.org) will host a program titled, “The Future of the Workplace,” with a workshop that covers “Capitalizing on the Advantages of a Multi-Generational Workplace” on Tuesday, April 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Firefighters’ Reception Hall, 241 Victory Ln.

Research suggests that 10,000 baby boomers will retire every day for the next 19 years, leaving an estimate of five million unfulfilled jobs throughout. Come join five Boomer-ANG “Gang” speakers to explore the impact of the “brain drain” as baby boomers begin to exit the workplace. This program will help you identify factors for consideration as you contemplate how to approach those 55+ years in your workplace. The workshop will discuss the five types of baby boomers in the workplace and how this creates a variety of options and challenges for the HR professional.

The Boomer-ANG gang will enlighten you regarding the dynamics of the Enthusiasts, The Self-Reliants, The Traditionalist, The Anxious, and the Strugglers. This program will give you a hands-on opportunity to strategize with others about how to approach, with maximum effectiveness, various situations with employees 55+ years. The lunch program is valid for one PDC towards the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification. The workshop is valid for two PDCs towards the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification.

Cost for the lunch program is $15 for LHRMA members and $25 for all other attendees. Cost of the workshop registration for all attendees is $35. Student LHRMA members receive free attendance to the luncheon. Students must register through Jenessa Keiser at college.relations@lincolnhr.org.
