Nebraska Reaches Unemployment Rate Milestone
Governor Pete Ricketts and the Nebraska Department of Labor (www.dol.nebraska.gov) announced Nebraska’s unemployment rate reached 2.8 percent in July, the lowest rate since August of 2000. “This major jobs milestone is another great example of how Nebraska is growing,” said Governor Ricketts. “This year, we’ve already seen over $1 billion of new investment from great job creators like Costco, Facebook, Cargill, and others.”
Nebraska is tied for fourth best unemployment rate in the nation with New Hampshire. “Several industry sectors have seen positive growth trends over the past few years. Financial activities, professional and business services, leisure & hospitality, and other services all reached new employment highs in July,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin. “Manufacturing employment in July was also the highest it has been since August 2014.”
