Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers partnered with Cell Phones for Soldiers for its 6th Annual cell phone drive. In just 38 days, Lincolnites brought in their gently used cell phones to be donated towards calling cards and in total, over 100,000 minutes and $7,000 in monetary donations were collected and given to the Nebraska National Guard. The calling cards are given to active Nebraska military persons that allow them to stay connected with friends and family while away on duty and the donated money is given to local military families to help pay for daily essentials such as food and gas.
From March 24 through April 30, when an old cell phone was donated, the donor received a free meal with purchase offer. Through these efforts, Raising Cane’s gave over $2,400 in food to support the cause. In addition to donating phones, customers were able to provide support by adding any dollar amount to their orders when purchasing food. The calling cards and check were presented to Gen. Darly Bohac and Cpt. Melissa Kramer at the Nebraska National Guard Joint Force Headquarters building on June 13 at 2pm.
