Ribbon Cuttings Held to Celebrate Lincoln’s First Distillery, Sideshow Spirits

Sideshow Spirits (www.kinkaider.com/sideshow), a high-end cocktail bar and Lincoln’s first-ever distillery, celebrated its grand opening on September 2 with ribbon cuttings conducted by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Independent Business Association. The event featured drink specials, appetizers, distillery tours, a photo booth, live music by Rascal Martinez, hands-on magic tricks by the talented Chase Hasty, and an all-around good time! Though the speak-easy inspired establishment has been in operation for a year, the Sideshow team was finally able to officially celebrate with the public, along with friends and family.

Sideshow Spirits is owned and operated by Broken Bow-based craft beer brewer Kinkaider Brewing Co. At the grand opening, Co-Owner Cody Schmick spoke about the business’s upbringing. From Broken Bow, to Grand Island, then to Lincoln, with near-future plans to expand into Omaha, the Kinkaider legacy is growing fast. With the success of that venture, Cody had a vision for a nostalgic, 80s/90s-themed bar in downtown Lincoln. Thus, Boombox Social was born, taking over the building that was previously Green Flash Brewing. Sideshow Spirits is connected to the back of Boombox, with access points that are intentionally discrete. This is a place that offers a unique drinking experience with a focus on craft cocktails featuring in-house distillates. Sideshow focuses mainly on vodka, whiskey, and rum as well as cocktails that will be available by both the can and keg. The menu was handcrafted to perfection, largely thanks to Benton Alexander, and also offers delicious home-brewed ciders.
