Tobacco Free Lancaster County (TFLC, tobaccofreelancastercounty.org) is preparing for World No Tobacco Day 2023 and is seeking youth groups, clubs, and community organizations to register to participate in this free event. Sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), World No Tobacco Day is celebrated on May 31 each year to inform the public about the dangers of using tobacco and make them aware of the business practices of tobacco companies.
Participating groups will learn about the environmental impact of the entire tobacco cycle, from its cultivation, production, and distribution to the toxic waste it generates. This education, combined with the activity of picking up litter in community parks, trails, and more, aims to bring awareness to the environmental dangers of tobacco and vaping. By registering, groups will receive educational materials, talking points and suggested questions, FREE t-shirts, easy instructions to apply for and to receive eligible grant funds (funds for your organization), and supplies for litter pick-up – all while making a difference in our community.
