Community Action Partnership Lancaster and Saunders Counties (Community Action) (communityactionatwork.org) welcomes Brodey Weber as their new board president. Weber has been on the board since 2019.

“I got involved with Community Action because we don’t simply create band-aids,” said Weber. “Community Action’s programming focuses on truly addressing the causes of poverty.”

Community Action is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year. Its mission is to partner with the community in a fearless pursuit of anti-poverty solutions so all have the opportunity to live well. Its programs and services focus on four impact areas: early childhood education, homelessness prevention, financial and family well-being and hunger relief and healthy food access.

In 2024, Community Action increased its service delivery from the previous year by 30%, delivering 142,647 services to 19,965 people. Weber, Trust Officer at Bridges Trust and a Lincoln City Council member, said his goal as Community Action board president is to be able to continue to increase program accessibility, such as the Gathering Place Soup Kitchen, to Lincoln’s neighbors.

Weber is also a sponsor of Community Action’s Head Start classroom the Brilliant Bulldogs. “The best part of sponsoring a classroom is hands down the classroom visit,” Weber laughed. “It’s great getting to see firsthand the level of impact that the sponsorship provides the kids.”
