Over 150 guests attended Disrupting Traffick’s (disruptingtraffick.org) Defying Darkness gala on Sunday, Sept. 7. A huge thank you to the sponsors and volunteers that helped make this such an amazing event, and to everyone who attended! Disrupting Traffick celebrated the successful launch of their safe house in April, along with the re-launch of the resource center in July!
John DeMay, their keynote speaker, shared his son’s tragic story of sextortion, a powerful reminder that trafficking affects all families and demographics, and that we must remain vigilant and committed to preventing sex trafficking in Nebraska.
Disrupting Traffick focuses on prevention, stabilization and recovery from sexual exploitation and trafficking. They provide support to women who are sold for sex. By focusing on several core areas, they fill specific gaps in our community’s efforts to end trafficking.
