Family Service WIC and Nebraska Interpretation Services Form New Partnership

Family Service WIC (familyservicelincoln.org) is pleased to announce the formation of a new partnership with Nebraska Interpretation Services to continue to meet the needs of local families.

In addition to their long-time partnership with Language Link, this new partnership with Nebraska Interpretation Services will allow Family Service WIC to continue to provide language services and meet all clients’ needs with the best assistance possible. In the coming months, Family Service WIC will also be adding four new languages to their website to give easier access to the clients they serve. Since the beginning of 2022, they have already worked with interpretation services in Lincoln to help 36 families who utilize a primary language other than English.

Family Service WIC provides healthy foods at no cost to eligible participants in order to help keep pregnant women, infants, children up to age five, breastfeeding moms up to one year, and postpartum moms up to six months, healthy. To be eligible for WIC, a person must meet one of the above requirements, have identification, and proof of address and income (See income guidelines here: dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/WIC-About.aspx). Individuals who participate in other programs such as SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) may automatically be income-eligible for WIC.
