The Food Bank of Lincoln (www.lincolnfoodbank.org) was excited to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 16 with the Lincoln Chamber to celebrate their new headquarters. Many city council members, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird, and Chamber President Jason Ball attended the ribbon cutting to express their support of this major expansion that will keep Lincoln moving forward.

The facility is located at 1221 Kingbird Rd. near the Lincoln airport, which makes it more easily accessible to the city of Lincoln. It will primarily serve as a distribution center for food gathered nationally and locally to be shipped across all of Lincoln and 16 counties within Southeast Nebraska. Through this innovative space, the Food Bank will be able to serve many more neighbors.

“This new building is 60,000 square feet of meaningful, purposeful space that will be able to serve more food, get meals to those who need it, connect neighbors to resources, and shorten the lines,” said Steph Ledbetter, president of the board of directors.

The Food Bank of Lincoln is a proud member of Feeding America. Since their founding in 1982, they have been focused on their mission to alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska. Their dedicated team and partner agencies work together to put food on the tables of neighbors in need. To learn more, visit www.lincolnfoodbank.org or call (402) 466-8170.
