Foster Care Closet of Nebraska (fostercarecloset.org) is in process of relocating to a new home within the Center for People building in Lincoln, expanding its ability to serve youth.
The organization’s current location at 643 S. 25th Street, Suite 8 is closed to the public as the move is underway. The new location is expected to open on Sept. 9.
While Foster Care Closet transitions to its new space, it will continue serving youth through appointments and Mobile Closet events across Nebraska. Eligible youth in foster care receive brand-new seasonal clothing, shoes and essentials at no cost during their transition into care and twice per year while in care.
“We’ve seen the need to continue to grow, and this move positions us to serve more youth across Nebraska,” said Leigh Esau, founder of Foster Care Closet of Nebraska. “When so much is out of a child’s control, the opportunity to choose their own clothing can restore dignity and provide the joy of choice. We’re excited about what this new location means for the youth we serve.”
General donation drop-offs are paused during July and August while the move is occuring but can be scheduled.
Last year, Foster Care Closet served more than 1,600 youth through its Lincoln location and Mobile Closet stops throughout Nebraska.
Foster Care Closet of Nebraska provides dignity to youth in crisis by providing brand-new clothing and essentials to eligible youth in foster care across the state.
